It's December 10th and here in Cincinnati, the snow is finally falling a little bit. Today's design is a little reference to the blue and white Christmas decor that was more dominant in the past. When out on a drive searching for houses with cool Christmas lights, I'm always drawn to those all blue holdouts. The blue lights on white snow always seems so peaceful and elegant compared to the flashing, multicolor shows that some homes put on at night. Don't get me wrong, there's a time and place for the electric gingerbread houses, I just prefer my house lights a little more subdued.
Today's bit of Christmas cheer might not be so cheerful, but a part of Christmas nonetheless. "Blue Christmas" is one of those songs that always reappears every few years, covered by a wonderful new artist. Yet no matter who sings it, the feeling is the same, and identifiable by most everyone. This version of Blue Christmas is my recent favorite (sorry Elvis) by the group She & Him, otherwise known as Zooey Deschanel & M. Ward. You know this song, so I'll let She & Him's version speak for itself. (...and if you're looking for a new Christmas album, I'd recommend checking out "A Very She & Him Christmas", it's delightful and fresh while still remaining true to the classics of Christmas.)
