December 11th comes with the "crunch, crunch" of frozen ground beneath your feet. It's still not a blanket of white outside, here in Cincinnati, but it's definitely a lot colder. My desire to see the almost disorienting grey haze that comes with massive snow showed up in today's illustration. We have a fair amount of deer around my house and it's always a surprise to find the hoof prints in the snow after a fresh snow fall. I don't know what this says about me, but I love the idea of a stately deer being seemingly alone, making it's way through the snow. They never seem put out by the weather, they just deal with it and keep moving.
Now, today's bit of Christmas was unavoidable. You are on my blog, and for me to not post anything related to this would be near sacrilege. This is the theatrical trailer for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, arguably the funniest Christmas movie ever made. Like many families, it has become a holiday tradition to watch it together... and also like many families, we can identify certain characters with family members we currently have. Seemingly everyone has a Cousin Eddie, a Christmas "disaster", and just wanted to have a "perfect" Christmas. I think that's why it makes us all laugh so much and becomes a tradition for so many families. So, if you haven't seen this movie, drop what you're doing and go watch it now. But if you, like me, love this movie, then enjoy the trailer and make some time to watch it with your family this holiday season.
