Mankind's Business

Today is December 14th and it has been rather grim. Work stopped in the studio today to take some time to think on the events and think about those affected by the senseless atrocity that took place. It is unthinkable that in today's world it is so easy for one person to do such irreparable damage to lives of so many. I debated posting anything today, but I felt it's better to say something clear and reverent than say nothing at all. Today's illustration is simple and pure, representing the story of  Mary & Joseph heading towards Bethlehem.

As for something worth sharing, here's a striking scene from Dickens' "Scrooge"  that's tangentially related to today's events. Marley's ghost reminds us that the common welfare of man is everyone's business, not just the betterment of our personal lives. (This version, with Alistair Sims may be the greatest Scrooge, although I think it is best in black & white.)
